What can we do about high rents, sh*t landlords & poor housing? @ Open House Oxford
Apr 3 @ 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm

Discussion group to explore starting a tenants union in Oxford.

Whether it’s unaffordability, a complicated relationship with your landlord/agent, not getting the service you require, conflict over end of end a tenancy, the dispute of a deposit, or the state of your property.

We are trying to build a support network for renters:
– providing a space for tenants to share their problems in a safe space that offers solidarity and anonymity.
– a central point of information for renters rights.
– fighting housing discrimination, providing support to and stand in solidarity with those faced with housing discrimination.
– developing new campaigns and actions relating to specific housing issues in the city.

Got an idea that could put £1000 to good use?
Apr 5 @ 10:00 am – 12:30 pm

Do you have an idea for building relationships and connecting people with place that could do with a £1000 cash injection? As part of this year’s Marmalade, Transition by Design and Lankelly Chase are running a live experiment in participatory grant making.

Both Transition by Design and Lankelly Chase believe that more often then not, it’s communities who know best what they need. We’re experimenting with how to hand over control of funding to the people who know best the impact it could make.

To do this, we’re searching for ideas to be part of the workshop. The theme of this year’s Marmalade is ‘relationships’ and building on the work that Transition by Design does in Oxford and beyond, through projects like Open House, we want ideas that address the relationship between ‘people and place’ in Oxford.

We want to hear your idea in no more then 300 words. Tell us what it is, why it’s great and what impact it will have. Simple. If you’d like to talk through your idea with us before submitting it, have questions or need a bit of help then we’ll be running a drop in session from 10am – 1pm on Friday 5th April at Open House.

You must submit your ideas to ideas@transitionbydesign.org by the 7th April. The workshop will take place on the 10th April and the winning ideas can expect to be notified shortly after.
