‘Oxford is My Home’ – Can we create a magazine in a day?
Oct 19 all-day

Do you call Oxford your home? And what does the word ‘home’ mean to you?

We want to give voice to the diverse experiences of finding, building and maybe even losing a home in Oxford in a new community zine called ‘Oxford is my home’. After the amazing response to the first issue, and the fun had in making it, we’re doing it all again!

Whether you’re new to the city, born-and-bred, or anywhere in between, you’re invited to join together on 19th October at Open House. Come by any time between 10am and 4pm to collaborate & create art, opinions, poetry, and stories around this complex and vital topic. The event is free and open to all.

Why? Many people come into Open House and ask us the same questions; ‘how can we solve homelessness? How can we build more affordable housing? Is anyone doing anything!?’ We think the answer lies in talking to each other. Oxford is full of people who are experts by lived-experience of how our housing system is failing and we won’t understand how to fix the sticky situation we’ve got ourselves into until we start listening to them.

Copies of the original issue of ‘Oxford is my home’ can be found at the Oxford Poetry Library at any of their local market appearances. You can see where our big purple bike of books will be next at oxfordpoetrylibrary.co.uk

Pop-Up Tomorrow: Reimagining Oxford City Centre
Oct 20 @ 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Pop Up Tomorrow is a series of events inspired by Transition Network across the UK, imagining future communities.

////// POP UP TOMORROW: RE-IMAGINING OXFORD CITY CENTRE ////
Sun 20th October, 2-5pm
Open House Oxford
Free entrance

Join us for a creative afternoon at Open House Oxford – where together we will reimagine what Oxford City Centre could look like.

Please sign up on this page or on the eventbrite page: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/73967220949/ Places are free but there is limited space in the venue so places will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis!

“Pop Up Tomorrow will be a time of creativity, dreaming, and sharing. It will be a space to explore our longings for what we want the future to be. It will connect us to each other and to a future worth fighting for. ”

Based on an idea by Transition Network, CAG Oxfordshire and Eden Project Communities invite you to come together bring your ideas and imaginings of what Oxford’s City Centre could look like – a city farm? A community bank? Closed off to cars completely? Edible gardens?

What stories, buildings, spaces would this future Oxford City Centre hold, and what would life be like?

This event will take place at Open House Oxford and is free to anyone and everyone who wants to join. Tea, coffee, and biscuits will be provided in return for your creative contributions, thoughts, inspiring ideas, and craft skills!
Keep checking this space for more details.

For any more information in the meantime, get in touch with Laonikos (lpsimi@edenproject.com) or Henry (Henry.Owen@resourcefutures.co.uk).
