Physical and psychological thresholds are real obstacles when coming to reconsider ‘other ways’ of inhabiting the city. Open House is a unique example of a place which challenges the status quo: located on a commercial Street, it does not sell anything. In a context of a noisy city it invites people to talk and be listened to. This semester, interior architecture students from Oxford Brookes University were asked to consider the city, the street, the façade and the shop in order to find ways which will ease the participation of people in this new model of urban interaction.
