On Wednesday mornings at Open House Oxford we’re joined by Oxford Poetry Library for Writing Home – a writing group for all abilities. We play simple word games, make poetry out of found words, improvise, and read aloud.
We get a huge range of people coming; all ages, backgrounds, experiences of housing and confidence with words. Sometimes we talk about housing & homelessness, sometimes not, but almost always we’re sharing our experiences of being a citizen of Oxford.
Now, the group has worked to create a zine, a snapshot of some of the stories we’ve heard at Open House since last November. It’s a collection of poems, stories and thoughts on what it means to call Oxford home.
Next Wednesday, we’re launching the zine to the world at Writing Home and we’d love for you to join us. The session runs from 10-12 and you’re welcome to join for as much or as little as you like. Everyone is welcome, all that’s missing is you.
It’s also our final day of opening before we close for a little summer break so even more reason to come and see what it’s all about. Bring the kids and we might even have ice creams…
